Job Vacancy
Want to make a difference in young people’s lives?
We’re seeking a full time youth pastor down here in the deep South
With our youth worker moving on, and our youth pastor moving into a new role, we need a new leader and developer in youth ministry here at Calvin. Once the Youth Pastor position is filled we’ll advertise a second part-time role in youth ministry.
Our youth ministry is well-established and resourced, encompassing an evening youth group for Year 9-13 students, an afternoon group for Year 7-8 students, and a Sunday morning programme for Year 7-10 students. Discipleship is intentional and highly valued, and there’s plenty of scope for additional programmes and events as we partner with parents, other churches and our local Christian Camping site. As well as paid staff, the youth ministry is supported by adult leaders, with up-coming youth leaders being mentored as they help at the Intermediate youth group. Our young people are a good mix of church families and community kids.
While our ultimate goal is to see fruit being produced for the Kingdom of God, the vision of Eldership and the Youth Ministry team is to see youth and the wider church united and worshipping together. We’ve seen this increasing, as well as an increase in Biblical literacy. Evaluation and reflection is carried out on an ongoing basis between youth leadership, the Minister, and the Elders, and this shapes the direction of the youth ministry at Calvin.
Ours is a rural district, the population of Gore is approx 8,000 people, and we’re roughly situated between Invercargill and Dunedin. There are two secondary schools in Gore plus others in surrounding districts. Gore’s a great place to live and work, and a getaway is in easy reach - within a two hour drive we can be in Dunedin, Queenstown, Cromwell, Te Anau, or at the beach!
